CB Wilderness

A unified RSG Core wilderness system combining hunting, harvesting, fishing, tracking, camping, cooking, processing, crafting, progression, and a server-controlled economy.

Current resource version: 1.1.3
Framework: RSG Core
Required: rsg-core, rsg-inventory, ox_lib, oxmysql
Optional: ox_target, rsg-consume

Installation

  1. Copy the inner cb-wilderness directory into your resources folder.
  2. Import install/install.sql.
  3. Add only missing definitions from install/items.txt to RSGShared.Items. Default RSG fish and bait items are reused.
  4. Copy the supplied inventory images into the inventory image directory.
  5. Add the entries in install/consume.txt to the matching rsg-consume configuration when edible items are enabled.
  6. Review shared/config.lua and every file under shared/config/.
  7. Start resources in this order:
ini
ensure rsg-core
ensure rsg-inventory
ensure ox_lib
ensure oxmysql
ensure rsg-consume
ensure cb-wilderness

ox_target is optional. A built-in interaction fallback is used when it is unavailable. rsg-consume is needed only for the configured edible outputs.

Modules

Toggle systems independently through Config.Modules: hunting, fishing, camping, tracking, cooking, processing, crafting, campUpgrades, and progression. Dependent features degrade when a module is disabled, but test your recipe and item flow after changing module combinations.

Configuration files

FilePurpose
shared/config.luaModules, language, economy multipliers, cooldowns, distances, progression, logging, UI, and keybinds.
shared/config/animals.luaAnimal models, rewards, rarity, XP, and harvest properties.
shared/config/hunting.luaWeapon classes, quality scoring, exclusivity, and carcass rules.
shared/config/fish.luaFish items, rarity, value, and zone entries.
shared/config/fishing.luaRods, bait, timing, quality, and reel behaviour.
shared/config/camping.luaCamp item, tiers, objects, storage, upgrades, and sharing.
shared/config/zones.luaFishing, trader, town, blocked, and allowed zones.
shared/config/butchers.luaButcher/trader definitions.
shared/config/economy.luaSell prices and trader purchase lists.
shared/config/recipes/*.luaCooking, processing, and crafting recipes.

Economy and security

Rewards are calculated and validated server-side. Config.Economy controls the money account, money/item/XP multipliers, and per-reward hard caps. Config.Cooldowns and Config.Distances guard harvesting, fishing, crafting, camping, tracking, trading, and storage operations.

Avoid solving gameplay issues by broadly increasing server slack or reward caps. First confirm item definitions, coordinates, and latency.

Progression

Progression uses cumulative XP thresholds. The default ranks run from Greenhorn through Master Outdoorsman. Level bonuses can affect hunting rewards and quality, rare drops, fishing bite speed and quality, cooking upgrades, and tracking accuracy.

Recipes, fish, camp tiers, and tracking content may also set their own minimum level. Adjust those entries together when redesigning progression.

Player commands

CommandPurpose
/wildOpens the wilderness journal when enabled.
/trackStarts the tracking activity when enabled.
/campinvite [server-id]Grants an online player access to the owner's nearby camp.
/campremove [server-id]Removes a player from the nearby camp group.

The journal also has a rebindable default key (F5) and can be registered as a usable wilderness_journal item. Camp placement uses the command configured by Config.Camping.command.

Hunting

The server records a kill, validates entity distance and animal model, checks the weapon class, calculates quality, enforces temporary ownership, and issues configured items/XP when harvesting completes. Configure animal drops and weapon expectations together.

Fishing

Fishing validates the zone, owned rod, progression level, bait, cast timing, bite window, reel timing, and resulting catch. Fish selection is weighted by zone entries, rarity, equipment, and progression bonuses.

Camps and sharing

Camps persist in the database. Owners can place, pack, rest at, upgrade, and open configured camp stations and storage. Camp members can use shared features, and optional shared blips survive restarts with membership.

Placement is rejected in towns and blocked zones. If an allow-list of camp zones is configured, placement must also occur inside one of those zones.

Recipes

Every recipe should define a unique key, station type, input items, output, quantity, duration, and any level requirement. When adding recipes:

  1. Add every new input/output item to RSG Core.
  2. Add inventory artwork.
  3. Add edible outputs to rsg-consume when applicable.
  4. Verify the required station exists in the active camp tier or world configuration.
  5. Restart the resource and test both insufficient and sufficient inventory cases.

Troubleshooting

An item is reported missing at startup

Add it to RSGShared.Items, restart rsg-core, then restart the inventory and CB Wilderness. Resource-only restarts may leave the framework's shared item cache unchanged.

Hunting gives no reward

Check the animal model entry, allowed weapon class, player/entity distance, carcass ownership window, inventory capacity, and server console security logs.

Fishing will not start

Verify the player is in a configured fishing zone and owns a configured rod. If bait is required, confirm the exact item key and inventory amount.

Camp placement is rejected

Check town, no-camp, and allow-list zones plus camp spacing and placement distance. Enable debug only while inspecting zones, then disable it.

Interactions do not appear

If using ox_target, ensure it started before CB Wilderness. Otherwise confirm the built-in fallback is active and the interaction distance is appropriate.
